How we started
Drive to Give was born out of a passionate commitment to lift up our Charlotte community. As local residents observed the struggles that their neighbors faced in accessing essential benefits, they realized that many eligible families were not enrolled in programs like Food and Nutrition Services (FNS) and NC Medicaid. This insight sparked the idea of creating a sustainable solution that not only brings awareness to these available resources but also provides direct funding to help people connect with them.
After countless conversations and brainstorming sessions, the vehicle donation model emerged as a perfect fit. Car donations could serve as a meaningful way for residents to give back while also generating the necessary funds to support a free benefits-research service. Thus, Drive to Give was established, with the dual aim of funding community support and connecting neighbors with the assistance they need.
Our mission
Our mission at Drive to Give is to ensure that every Charlotte resident has the access and knowledge to utilize essential benefits programs like Food and Nutrition Services (FNS), North Carolina Medicaid, Work First, Women, Infants, and Children (WIC), and Low-Income Energy Assistance Program (LIEAP). Through our vehicle donation program, we bridge the gap between community needs and available resources, empowering individuals and families to thrive.
